Today is the beginning of this documented journey to 30. It all began the other night when I attempted a life map to 35… a simple planning tool with lots of colour, graphics, freely associated words, etc.
At 35, I see myself with a great person & holding hands, a suitcase in hand, cash and a car (yes, materialistic… i suppose), and surrounded by independence, joy, peace, love, and happiness.
At 30, I have a suitcase in hand, am viewed as a leader…. people listening, at the beginning of a solid career forward, debt free, and connected to art, culture and information/distribution.
I connected the dots between 30 and 35 and felt satisfied with what that meant… for now.
At 25, I am between two worlds – the arts and business. A dancer and tech-obsessed (slightly addicted to twitter), gay, white, male. A self-starter, creative and motivated entrepreneur-type. Optimistic and capable of tackling the projects at hand with excitement, integrity and curiosity.
However, in plotting out my life to 35, I was unable to connect the dots between 25 and 30. What?!??!?
That was strange, frustrating, and simultaneously liberating. So rather than attempt to articulate the space between, I drew a big blob of colour and decided that this was space – to be open to possibilities, chances, circumstance, and the unknown.
